Meenlah: Quest of the Stolen Spirits

Meenlah: Quest of the Stolen Spirits is a narrative action-adventure game inspired by Bantu cultures and the ancient kingdoms of the Congo Basin.
Players follow Semi, a young hero searching for his father, King Ngolo Pemba, in a world where people are gradually losing their essence and the boundary between the living world and the spirit realm is beginning to collapse.
Joined by Kung, a mysterious spirit mask able to merge with him, Semi must fight, explore corrupted kingdoms and uncover the truth behind the stolen spirits.

World & creative intent

The world of Meenlah exists at the boundary between the physical world and the spirit realm.

For generations, its kingdoms lived within a fragile balance between humans, spirits and ancient forces. That balance begins to collapse as people lose their essence, creatures emerge throughout the land and mysterious fractures gradually corrupt entire territories.

At the center of this crisis is Semi, son of King Ngolo Pemba. What begins as a personal search for his father slowly becomes a much larger conflict involving his lineage, his kingdom and the ancient forces maintaining the balance between both worlds.

His companion Kung, an exiled spirit mask, is simultaneously an ally, a source of protection and a mystery. Their relationship develops throughout the journey, particularly through their ability to merge during combat.

Our goal is to build an African fantasy universe that goes beyond simply applying African aesthetics to familiar Western fantasy structures. Mythology, architecture, belief systems, materials, landscapes and relationships with the spirit world are intended to shape the narrative, gameplay and environmental design directly.

At its core, Meenlah explores heritage, memory, responsibility and transmission.
